Sleepover Party Checklist from a Sleepover Company Pro

This sleepover party checklist will help you stay organized and create an unforgettable night for your child and their friends.

2-3 Months Before the Party

Choose a Date

Saturdays are the biggest sleepover day since there is no school on that day or the following day. If you are booking with a professional sleepover company, BOOK EARLY, BOOK NOW since Saturdays book up the fastest.

Create a Guest List

Think about how many children your home can comfortably host. Smaller groups are often easier to manage and more enjoyable. Also, if you are having any mattresses or teepees, parents often underestimate how much space they actually take up. From experience, small living rooms can fit 3-5 teepees/mattresses and large ones can fit up to about 7-8. (This is after a couch is moved/removed)

Pick a Theme

Themes make the party more exciting and easier to plan.

Send Invitations.

If you are DIY, you can use Canva or purchase on Etsy then edit in Canva. Just be sure the invite is editable in Canva before purchase. Some invites are only editable in other programs that severely limit your editing options.

Include:

• Party date

• Start time- Pro tip: Don't start your party too early in the day unless you have a lot of activities planned. The longer the guests are there, the longer you will need to help manage everything and it can be very exhausting for parents.

• Pick-up time the next day- very important

• Address

• RSVP deadline

• What to bring (SLEEPING PILLOWS, pajamas, toothbrush, etc.) Even most professional companies ask the guests to bring their own pillows for hygiene reasons.

4 Weeks Before the Party

Confirm Guest Needs

Ask parents about:

• Food allergies

• Medical needs

• Pickup details

• Comfort concerns

• Nightlights. Some children still need these and may have a negative experience if they need one and one is not readily available. They may be too embarrassed to ask during the sleepover.

  If you are using a professional company, lights are usually included.

Plan Sleeping Arrangements

Make sure every guest has:

• Mattress or air mattress

• Fitted Sheet

• Pillow

• Blanket

• Sleeping bag if needed

• Nightlight if needed or it is also just a nice touch

Now is the time to order any cakes or treats especially if they are themed or special orders. Check with your Sleepover Pro if they have any recommendations on local bakers.

Plan Dinner Ideas - Think delivery on the day of the party as a super tip. The less you need to do on the day of the party, the better. Keep all hands on deck at home.
